Speaking at Historical Fiction Conference in Houston this November!

Are you interested in writing historical fiction? Do you live somewhere near Houston (or fancy a trip)? Then come join me at the Houston Writers House Historical Fiction workshop on November 2nd and 3rd!

The event will be located at the Buffalo Soldier Museum in downtown Houston, and feature sessions by bestselling author Robert Hicks (Widow of the South, Orphan Mother) but also fascinating glimpses into the experiences of Buffalo Soldiers from the 1800s through to the 20th Century by the people who lived it and have become expert in it.

Oh, and I will be speaking about setting in your novels (and my wild and woolly adventures doing research to get those details), and will participate in a panel discussion about historical fiction. Here’s more details on that session:

Surrounded and Grounded: How to Make Your Setting Come Alive

Ever been writing (or reading) and have a hard time picturing where you are? Get stuck on what a place would have looked, smelled, or tasted like in the past? In this dynamic session, Danielle will take us on a journey from England to the Arctic – with a few stops in between – to show how she does in-depth research, plans and executes trips, and collects and uses details on the five senses and beyond.

Did I mention I *may* be appearing in costume?? (those of you who know me well know this is one of my favourite things!)
