It’s been such a moving project to work on in these challenging times. A reminder we can be courageous in impossible situations, kind and compassionate to strangers who wash up upon our shores, and that history offers so many insights and lessons for today.
Thanks to the editors and designers at @nimbuspub for helping create a wonderful resource for kids, educators and caregivers to share. I can’t wait to launch this in time for the shipwreck’s anniversary and connect new generations with this incredible story!
This book is geared for 8-12 year olds and I’ve been careful to balance facts with propelling storytelling, photos, historic materials, and resources to guide further exploration. It also focuses on building critical thinking, empathy, and historical inquiry, and I hope will be a great addition to social studies classes in Nova Scotia and beyond!
